A boil water advisory remains in effect for water customers in the City of LaFayette due to ongoing issues at the Lee School Road Water Treatment Plant. Despite a decrease in turbidity levels, city officials have confirmed that they have not yet dropped to a safe threshold to lift the advisory.

Engineers are vigilantly monitoring the water quality as city leaders work diligently to address the situation. This week, officials met with representatives from three water filtration companies to explore solutions. The proposed purchase of a new water filtration system for the Lee School Road facility aims to provide a temporary fix until the new Dickson Spring Plant is operational. The current issues stem from a combination of recent heavy rainfall and a significant water main break on Bronco Road.

Areas affected by the advisory include the region east of the Highway 27 bypass, south of 135 East, including the Naomi community, as well as Highway 151, the Corinth area, Hillcrest community, Walnut Grove area, and Old Trion Highway.

City officials urge residents in these affected areas to boil water for at least one minute beyond a rolling boil before using it for cooking, drinking, or brushing teeth. Particular caution is advised for vulnerable populations, including infants, the elderly, and individuals with immune deficiencies.
