A survey by Site Selection Magazine has named Georgia the top state for Best Business Climate, highlighting its strong appeal to site selection experts. This survey differs from the magazine’s yearly state rankings, which consider various factors beyond direct feedback from site developers. Georgia, frequently among the top states in annual rankings, continues to confirm its reputation as a prime location for businesses.

Governor Brian Kemp emphasized that this recognition reflects Georgia’s successful partnerships in job creation and economic development, citing the state’s skilled workforce, investments in infrastructure, and supportive business policies. Georgia surpassed other states in the survey, similar to its track record with Area Development Magazine, and rankings were based on factors like workforce availability, cost of living, and business-friendly environments. Atlanta was also ranked as the No. 3 best city for corporate headquarters.

Experts noted that Georgia stands out for its collaborative environment that eases site selection challenges. Pat Wilson, the Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner, remarked that this achievement highlights the efforts of the state legislature and economic developers.

The survey results showed that Southern states are favored by site selectors due to their advantages in logistics, low costs, and supportive policies. The key factors in business climate include workforce, tax policy, and cost of living. In terms of potential headquarters locations, Dallas, Charlotte, Atlanta, Nashville, and Raleigh topped the list. These findings underscore the Southern states’ appeal in attracting companies through effective economic development strategies.
