AdventHealth Redmond has launched a new interventional neurology program to treat complex stroke cases and brain aneurysms. Dr. Jose Marino has joined the team to provide emergency care for stroke patients at this facility, which is the first of its kind in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama. The program aims to allow patients to receive critical stroke treatment locally, reducing the need for transfers to larger cities.

Dr. Marino emphasizes the urgency of recognizing stroke symptoms, which are highlighted by the acronym B. E. F. A. S. T. Symptoms include sudden loss of balance, vision changes, a drooped face, weakness in arms, slurred speech, and the need to call 911. Upon arrival, the stroke response team aims to conduct tests and initiate treatment within 30 minutes.

Dr. Marino is fellowship-trained and employs advanced techniques to treat blocked arteries and brain aneurysms, showing better outcomes than national averages since August 2024. The program also serves patients with a history of head bleeds or chronic issues. For more information, call 706-413-8834.
