Empowered Elegance, a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting under-resourced young women in Northwest Georgia, is gearing up for its 3rd annual Prom Pop Up event. Set to take place on Friday, February 21st, and Saturday, February 22nd, the event aims to ensure that all young ladies can experience the magic of prom night, regardless of their financial situation.
Kelli Barnes, co-founder of Empowered Elegance, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “The Prom Pop Up is geared towards assisting those who might not be able to afford prom-related expenses. We want every young lady to feel beautiful and confident on this special night.” Community partners, including social workers and school counselors, are encouraged to nominate students who would benefit from this unique opportunity. In addition, the organization invites the public to submit nominations, expanding the reach to ensure that as many young ladies as possible can participate. Cristin Warden, fellow co-founder, notes, “We are also seeking volunteers to help us make this event a success.”
The Prom Pop Up offers participants a ‘full boutique experience,’ where they can select from a range of donated dresses, accessories, and beauty items, all provided free of charge. To support this initiative, Empowered Elegance is calling for donations of formal dresses, jewelry, handbags, shoes, and makeup. Donated items can be dropped off at Top Hat Formal Wear in downtown Rome.
Empowered Elegance serves the Floyd, Chattooga, Gordon, and surrounding counties in Northwest Georgia, striving to create unforgettable memories for young women during prom season.
