Last week, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp recognized four prominent corporate forest landowners for their significant contributions to wildlife stewardship in the state of Georgia. Georgia Power, Weyerhaeuser, PotlatchDeltic, and Forest Investment Associates were celebrated as the Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Forestry for Wildlife partners for the year 2025.
This prestigious program, which has been active for 30 years, aims to promote wildlife conservation alongside sustainable forestry practices. Through their participation, these companies have made substantial strides in enhancing wildlife habitats across nearly 1 million acres of land. Their efforts not only support the state’s rich biodiversity but also contribute to environmental research and community recreation. The recognized partners have implemented key projects focused on habitat restoration and species conservation, demonstrating a commitment to ecological health and sustainability. They actively manage their land to support various wildlife species, collect vital data for scientific research, and provide invaluable training opportunities for other landowners.
“This partnership exemplifies how corporate responsibility and environmental stewardship can work hand in hand,” said Governor Kemp during the event. “We commend Georgia Power, Weyerhaeuser, PotlatchDeltic, and Forest Investment Associates for their ongoing commitment to protecting our natural resources and ensuring a thriving ecosystem for generations to come.” The Forestry for Wildlife program allows landowners managing more than 10,000 acres to participate, fostering collaboration between private interests and conservation goals.
As Georgia continues to grow, initiatives like these are essential in maintaining a balance between development and preserving the state’s rich wildlife heritage.
