The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia says that weakening high pressure over the state will keep it dry during the day, with clouds increasing this afternoon and rain arriving tonight. Satellite images show mid to high-level clouds moving across the area this morning, which will lessen, leaving mostly clear skies by daybreak.

The weakening high pressure over North Georgia and Eastern Tennessee will push east into the Carolinas. Meanwhile, a developing wave off the Texas Gulf Coast will also move east, becoming centered off the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast by midnight. This low-pressure system will bring rain to West Central Georgia late this evening, continuing across the state into Monday morning and early afternoon. Mainly central and southern Georgia will see rain south of a LaGrange to Augusta line, with only isolated showers possibly reaching Atlanta tonight.

Temperatures will rise into the 50s and 60s today, dropping into the 30s and 40s tonight. This morning marks the last freezing temperatures for much of Northwest Georgia for the next seven days. The long-term forecast indicates a northwesterly flow through Wednesday with highs in the low 70s, then a cold front bringing mainly rain and a chance for thunderstorms Thursday. High pressure will settle in for the weekend, with above-normal temperatures.
