Chattooga County’s basketball talent was on full display at the 39th Northwest Georgia Tip-Off banquet, with players from both the Chattooga Indians and Lady Indians squads earning prestigious awards.

On the boys’ side, Dan Meyer took home Chattooga Boys Player of the Year honors, as well as the Atrium Health Comeback Player of the Year award. While Meyer was also part of a three-way tie for Overall Player of the Year, a mix-up at the banquet prevented him from being formally recognized. Organizers have assured that Meyer will receive the plaque and title he rightfully earned. Quarry Gibson and DJ Etchison were also recognized for their individual performances, earning December and January Player of the Month awards, respectively. The entire Chattooga Boys team was awarded January Team of the Month honors, highlighting their collective achievements. Head Coach Justin Gentry expressed immense pride in his team’s success. “I am very proud of our team and these young men in particular,” said Gentry. “They have worked hard since last year to achieve the honors they have received. It’s bittersweet knowing the senior group will move on, but they have left a winning legacy that will continue for years to come thanks to their leadership and drive.”

The Chattooga Lady Indians also had a night to remember, with several players recognized for their outstanding contributions to a strong season. Daysa Martin earned December Player of the Month, followed by Gracelyn Rutledge, who took home the January Player of the Month title. Addie Veatch capped off the Lady Indians’ success by being named Girls Player of the Year.
