
The City of Summerville is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to fill the role of Recreation Maintenance Worker. This vital position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the city’s recreation facilities and grounds, ensuring residents can enjoy well-maintained spaces for leisure and community activities.
The Recreation Maintenance Worker will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including cleaning and maintaining facilities such as the Summerville Community Center and Gym, Dewey Hoskins Gym, Fairway Rec. Center, Dowdy Park, Willow Springs Park, and the Scout Hut. Duties also include litter removal, trash disposal, restroom sanitation, and landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, mulching, and planting.
The position requires preventative maintenance on mowers, city vehicles, and small engines, as well as the ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting repairs. Responsibilities also include field preparation for baseball, softball, and soccer. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years of relevant experience. Candidates must also possess or be able to readily obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
This position involves a physically demanding workload, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor for extended periods, both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
