A 28-year-old woman from Trion, Georgia, Alliyah Hatcher, died Wednesday following a car crash involving a tractor trailer. The incident occurred near the intersection of Georgia State Route 53 and Georgia State Route 140. According to reports, Hatcher’s red Hyundai Elantra collided with the rear of a tractor trailer. Floyd County Police Public Information Officer Mike Bell stated that both vehicles were traveling westbound on US 140 when both attempted to make a left turn. Emergency responders worked to extricate Hatcher from her vehicle. She was then transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Officer Bell indicated that speed was a contributing factor in the accident. He also stated that, based on the initial investigation, no charges are expected to be filed in connection with the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
