For several generations, children in Chattooga County have enjoyed the community spirit and faith at Camp Hamby, a day camp run by local United Methodist Churches. Registration for the 2025 camp season is now open.

Founded in 1968, Camp Hamby provides a safe space for children to learn about Jesus while participating in various fun activities. The camp offers arts and crafts, nature exploration, and Bible studies, promoting both creativity and spiritual growth. The camp was established thanks to a generous land donation from Hugh Hamby, a member of Menlo United Methodist Church.

Since it started, Camp Hamby has grown from serving 38 children in 1981 to about 300 today, showcasing its welcoming environment and commitment to young minds. Camp Hamby is open to all children, regardless of denomination, making it a diverse place for learning and friendship.

This year, Camp Hamby will run from June 9-13 and June 16-20 for children aged 5 to 11. Camper and counselor forms are available online at www. camphamby.com or can be picked up from Amy at Trend Setters Salon or Liz Wells at Trion High School. Spots are limited, so submit payment with the registration form to secure a spot. Indicate which week you are registering for and the registration deadline is May 16th. More information can be found on the online form.
