As April marks National Volunteer Month, Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley is calling on community members to lend a hand in their mission of building affordable housing and supporting local families. The organization is seeking volunteers with a variety of skillsets, from those comfortable wielding a hammer to those who enjoy the atmosphere of a baseball game.

According to Executive Director Betsy Allgood, Habitat is actively recruiting volunteers to assist with concessions at the Rome Emperors’ home games. A portion of the proceeds from these concessions directly benefits Habitat’s programs and initiatives in the Coosa Valley. “We’re always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us at the ballpark,” says Allgood. “It’s a fun way to support our work and enjoy a ballgame at the same time!” In addition to ballpark support, Habitat is gearing up for their 61st home build and is seeking volunteers to assist with various construction tasks. Allgood encourages those interested in participating to stay tuned for information about upcoming work days. Volunteers are also needed at the Habitat ReStore, located at 504 East 1st Avenue, where they can help with sorting donations, assisting customers, and maintaining the store.
