Eight adults were arrested in Bartow County on Thursday following an investigation into a one-year-old child who ingested methamphetamine. Bartow County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report from a Floyd County hospital regarding possible child abuse. According to authorities, a nurse reported that the child was being treated for methamphetamine ingestion, potentially in liquid form. The child’s mother, Maggie Mason, 27, of Adairsville, allegedly told the nurse she found a “bubbler” containing methamphetamine in her bedroom at her parents’ home on Bunch Mountain Road near Adairsville. Mason reportedly expressed concerns about moving the drug paraphernalia due to her past addiction struggles. She also mentioned that the child’s father, Aaron Collum, 33, had left the residence earlier that day. Prior to the hospital report, Bartow County Fire and Emergency Services had responded to the same residence for a medical call involving a one-year-old potentially having a seizure. The child was subsequently transported to Scottish Rite Hospital. The child’s current condition is unknown at this time.
