A heated exchange at the Chattooga County Commissioner’s Office led to police being called on May 13th, after a local businessman allegedly refused to leave following a contentious meeting.
According to a police report filed by Reporting Officer Ty Hutchins, the incident occurred at the Commissioner’s Office, located at 10102 Commerce Street in Summerville. Commissioner Andy Allen reported that Jordan Blackshear, identified as the subject of the complaint, had been meeting with him, BJ Hall, and Holley Strawn-Gilliland regarding the Fields Walk property. Commissioner Allen stated that Blackshear requested a private meeting, which Allen denied, explaining the presence of Hall and Strawn-Gilliland was necessary. Blackshear then reportedly produced his checkbook, offering to write a check for $100,000 if Commissioner Allen would allow him to proceed with his Fields Walk project. Allen stated he informed Blackshear that the county does not conduct business in that manner, at which point Blackshear allegedly became agitated. The situation escalated when Blackshear allegedly began making political threats, stating he would provide a truck driver with $100,000 to sue Commissioner Allen.
Following these threats, Allen requested that Blackshear leave the premises. When Blackshear refused, Allen instructed an employee to contact law enforcement. E-911 was subsequently contacted, and officers were dispatched to the scene. However, upon arrival, Mr. Blackshear was no longer present at the Commissioner’s Office.
The incident is under review, and no further details have been released at this time
