Ronnie Brent Massey, 49, a vice principal and coach at LaFayette High School, was arrested on Monday, June 2nd, and is facing 10 counts of computer child pornography. The arrest was made under the “Internet Crimes Against Children Data System in reference to Child Sexual Abuse Material,” according to a report from the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and investigators executed a search warrant at Massey’s residence on Monday evening, where they seized his cell phone. The phone’s serial number matched the phone listed on the search warrant. “The offender admitted to owning the two… accounts that were reported through the cybertips and admitted to getting approximately 12 videos using [the app] that contained CSAM [Child Sexual Abuse Material],” the Sheriff’s Office report stated. Authorities also seized “several other cell phones, computers, and storage devices” from Massey’s home, all of which were collected as evidence. Massey was subsequently arrested, transported to the Sheriff’s Office, willingly interviewed, and booked into detention.

Walker County Schools Superintendent Damon Raines released a statement addressing the situation. “Walker County Schools has been notified that a district employee was recently arrested as part of a law enforcement investigation,” Raines said. “Walker County Schools is fully cooperating with law enforcement and will continue to support their efforts as the investigation moves forward. The district is also taking appropriate personnel actions per our policies and procedures.” Raines added, “As this is an active investigation, and to respect the process and the privacy of all involved, no additional details can be shared at this time.”

The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released as the case progresses.
