Georgia drivers are enjoying continued relief at the pump as gas prices dip below the $2.90 mark. The current average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Georgia is $2.86, a decrease of two cents compared to last week, according to AAA. This welcome drop translates to significant savings for Georgia motorists, with prices also down four cents from last month and a substantial 43 cents lower than this time last year.

Filling up a 15-gallon tank now costs around $42.90, almost $7 less than what Georgians were paying just a year ago. “Georgia pump prices keep on giving, which is great news for drivers heading into the summer driving season,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. However, Waiters cautioned, “Remember, we’re still at the front end of hurricane season, and a sudden storm could bump up oil prices, causing gas prices to increase.” National Trend Mirrors Georgia’s Relief The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has also decreased, currently standing at $3.12, down two cents from last week. Nationally, gas prices are 36 cents cheaper than last June, a trend attributed to consistently low crude oil prices and an oil supply that currently outweighs demand.

The most expensive metro markets in Georgia are Savannah ($2.98), Valdosta ($2.89), and Atlanta ($2.88).

The least expensive metro markets in Georgia are Albany ($2.80), Dalton ($2.78), and Warner Robins ($2.75).
