The Chattooga community is eagerly preparing for the upcoming Back to School Bash, receiving strong support from local organizations, businesses, and volunteers. The event is focused on celebrating students as they return to school and ensuring they have the necessary supplies. Maisha Ludy, coordinator for Chattooga Family Connection, expressed gratitude for the community’s involvement, emphasizing the collective goal of supporting students.

Local churches, including Alpine Church, Harvest Worship Center, Horizon Baptist Fellowship, and Dry Valley Baptist Church, have contributed essential supplies for the event, with Dry Valley Baptist Church participating in person this year. Additionally, educational institutions like the Chattooga County Library and the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) plan to attend, offering resources and assistance to families.

The Community Resource Center of Chattooga has donated a wide range of school supplies and snack bags, highlighting their commitment to helping children succeed in school.  Chattooga Family Connection expressed appreciation to local individuals and businesses as well.  Support continues with Ms. Kelly Vrieze providing school supplies and Ms. Felicia Foster ensuring attendees will enjoy hotdogs at the event along with Jimmy and Maria Holbrook with WZQZ Radio and Equipment Outlet for providing financial contributions.

Ludy pointed out that there are still ongoing needs for additional supplies, including glue sticks, dry erase markers, and highlighters. The community is encouraged to help by donating specific items that can make a difference for students. The current supply list includes binders, erasers, folders, and notebooks, but also highlights the remaining needs: 716 glue sticks, 350 dry erase markers, 240 highlighters, 200 pens, 172 packs of colored pencils, and 200 dividers with pockets. Ludy urged anyone who can assist to reach out so that every student feels prepared for the new school year.

As the event approaches, the Chattooga community’s collaboration and support stand out. The Back to School Bash aims to provide students with supplies and encourage unity among families and community members. With just days left before the celebration, the focus is on creating a successful event with contributions from local churches, businesses, and organizations.
