Northwest Georgia residents can expect a continuation of hot and mostly dry conditions through the beginning of next week, the National Weather Service announced today. While the region enjoyed a beautiful and dry Fourth of July holiday, forecasters are emphasizing high afternoon temperatures as the primary concern, with increased chances for afternoon thundershowers anticipated from Monday through Thursday.
Following a sunny and clear Fourth of July on Friday, today’s forecast for Saturday calls for sunny skies and a high around 93 degrees. Tonight will bring clear skies and a comfortable low of 70 degrees. Sunday is expected to be sunny and slightly warmer, with temperatures hovering around the mid-90s, continuing the dry pattern.
The dry pattern is set to persist into Monday, though the first slight chance of rain emerges with a 20% probability of afternoon thundershowers. Temperatures on Monday will remain in the mid-90s.
Rain chances are expected to increase more significantly from Tuesday through Thursday as a tropical storm system makes its way inland off the coast of South Carolina. While these days will continue to be warm and mostly dry, forecasters indicate that any precipitation will mainly be in the form of scattered afternoon thundershowers, rather than widespread, continuous rain.
Despite the potential for some isolated showers, the National Weather Service continues to highlight hot afternoon temperatures as the main concern for Northwest Georgia residents throughout the extended forecast period. Residents are advised to take precautions against the heat, especially during peak afternoon hours, and stay updated on the latest forecasts.
