A Rome man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on July 4th in the city. Jason Kirk Johnson, 40, is accused of shooting another individual at a location on Calhoun Avenue.

According to Floyd County Jail records and arrest warrants, Johnson allegedly shot Devin Darrell Burdette at 400 Calhoun Avenue on Independence Day.

Johnson faces multiple charges stemming from the incident, including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon indicates a prior criminal history that legally prohibits him from owning or possessing firearms.
