Landowners and land managers seeking to enhance their property financially, improve game and fish harvests, and implement ecological improvements are invited to register for the 2025 Agroforestry and Wildlife Field Day. This unique educational event is set for Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the University of Georgia’s Westbrook Research Farm in Griffin, Georgia.

Held every few years, the Agroforestry and Wildlife Field Day provides a rare opportunity to learn directly from federal and state government officials, as well as representatives of private businesses. Attendees will gain practical knowledge and observe real-world examples of effective land and wildlife management.

The comprehensive program features more than 30 topics, ensuring a wide array of interests are covered. Sessions are divided into key areas, including:

• Forestry Topics: Exploring subjects such as Forest Stand Improvement, Marketing and Selling Timber, Prescribed Burning, and Longleaf Pine Economics.
• Wildlife Topics: Addressing critical areas like Conflict Wildlife Management, Bobwhite Quail Management, Pond Management, and creating Wildlife Openings.
• Conservation Topics: Delving into Financial Assistance Programs, Writing a Forest & Wildlife Management Plan, Conservation Easements, and using Livestock for Invasive Vegetation Control.

The field day will run from 8:00 am to 4:15 pm, with each topic discussion session lasting 45 minutes. Participants have the flexibility to attend up to eight different sessions throughout the day.

Early bird registration is available for $35 until August 21, 2025 ($40 thereafter). The registration fee includes a field data book, site visits, and lunch. As an added incentive, pre-registrants will receive a complimentary Agroforestry and Wildlife Field Day ball cap. Special pricing and a unique field trip opportunity are also available for high school students.

Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) are offered across several fields, including pesticide (various categories), forestry, loggers, arborist, and wildlife. More detailed information on CEU availability can be found on the field day website.

The event is presented through a collaborative effort by leading organizations including the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, Georgia Forestry Commission, Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
