Summerville Police are investigating the theft of a copper line from an air conditioning unit at First Presbyterian Church on College Street, an incident discovered on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025.
According to a police report, officers were dispatched to 116 College Street around 3:32 PM last Tuesday afternoon in response to a report of property damage. Upon arrival, Officer Smith met with Will Maples, identified as the complainant.
Mr. Maples informed responding officers that someone had cut a copper line connected to the church’s air conditioning unit. Police confirmed the damage, noting the visibly severed copper line. The report indicates no other signs of vandalism or damage were observed on the church property.
Despite the damage and theft, Mr. Maples explicitly stated to police that the church did not wish to press charges against the perpetrator(s). However, he requested that an official report be filed for documentation purposes.
Summerville Police confirmed that while no charges are being pursued by the church at this time, an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
