Ten dedicated students marked a significant achievement last Wednesday, July 23, graduating from Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) Electrical Lineworker program during a special ceremony at the college’s Polk County Campus in Rockmart.

The graduates successfully completed a rigorous 10-week training program designed to equip them with the essential skills for a demanding and vital profession. The intensive curriculum benefited greatly from donated equipment, including trucks, poles, and climbing gear, which allowed for extensive hands-on experience under the expert guidance of GNTC instructors.

Upon completion, each student earned not only four certificates for Electrical Lineworker, but also a restricted Class A Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) license and an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification. In total, the program validates 395 hours of comprehensive training, preparing graduates for immediate entry into the workforce. The program is a cornerstone offering of GNTC’s Office of Economic Development.

This graduating class marks the eighth cohort of the highly successful Electrical Lineworker program since its inception in Fall 2022, demonstrating a consistent demand for skilled professionals in the field.

The graduates of this eighth cohort include: Trent Agan, Alex Chappuis, Gavin Corno, Dustin Fortenberry, Christain Blake Hooper, Danny Marin, Ronnie Paez, Ja’lyn Searcy, Jason Wargin, and Austin White.

The next cohort for GNTC’s Electrical Lineworker program is set to begin on September 2, though it is currently waitlisted, underscoring the program’s popularity and effectiveness.
