A 40-year-old woman was arrested last Thursday at the Walmart Supercenter in Chattooga County after allegedly attempting to shoplift merchandise and was subsequently found to have an active warrant for a previous shoplifting incident.

Jane Marie Faulkner, 40, was taken into custody on July 24, 2025, following a call to the Walmart Supercenter regarding a shoplifting in progress. Deputy Connor Ellenburg responded to the scene and was met by the store’s Apprehension Prevention (AP) staff.

According to the arrest report, AP staff informed Deputy Ellenburg that Faulkner had attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise. They also advised that Faulkner had an outstanding warrant for her arrest related to a prior shoplifting incident. Deputy Ellenburg verified and confirmed the warrant was active.

Further investigation, including a review of camera footage by Deputy Ellenburg, concluded that Faulkner did attempt to exit the store with paper towels, valued at $4.00, without paying. The report stated this was done with “intent to deprive Walmart of their property for her personal gain.”

Faulkner was arrested without incident and transported to the Chattooga County Jail. The charges against her include Theft by Shoplifting, in addition to the existing warrant.
