The Town of Trion has officially announced the schedule for its 2025 Municipal General Election, including the crucial qualifying period for individuals seeking to run for elected office. Voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to elect a Mayor, three Town Council members, and three School Board members, each serving a four-year term.

The municipal general election will take place at the Trion Recreation Department, located at 90 Dalton Street, Trion, Georgia, with polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Prospective candidates for these significant community roles must qualify at the Town of Trion Town Hall, 1220 Pine Street, Trion, Georgia. The qualifying period is set for:

  • Wednesday, August 20, 2025: Beginning at 8:30 a.m.
  • Ending Friday, August 22, 2025: At 4:30 p.m.

Qualifying hours each day will be from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., with the office closed for qualification between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. for lunch.

The positions up for election, along with their current incumbents and qualifying fees, are as follows:

  • Mayor: Incumbent, Lanny E. Thomas – Qualifying Fee: $434.00
  • Council Seat #1: Incumbent, Jeff “Fro” Wilson – Qualifying Fee: $86.00
  • Council Seat #2: Incumbent, Becky McWhorter – Qualifying Fee: $86.00
  • Council Seat #3: Incumbent, Mickey McGraw – Qualifying Fee: $86.00
  • School Board Seat #1: Incumbent, Darriel Broome – Qualifying Fee: $87.00
  • School Board Seat #2: Incumbent, Johnny Brimer – Qualifying Fee: $87.00
  • School Board Seat #3: Incumbent, B. Randall Henderson Jr. – Qualifying Fee: $87.00

All elected officials will serve a four (4) year term.

For those planning to vote, early voting will be available at the Town of Trion Town Hall, 1220 Pine Street, Trion, Georgia. The early voting period begins on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, and concludes on Friday, October 31, 2025. Weekday early voting hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Additionally, there will be two Saturday early voting opportunities:

  • Saturday, October 18, 2025: 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 25, 2025: 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The deadline to register to vote for the upcoming municipal general election is Monday, October 6, 2025. Voter registration is available at the Chattooga County Registrar’s Office or other locations as specified by Georgia Law.
