Mohawk Industries, a leading flooring manufacture, has recently provided funding for LifeVac kits to equip the City of Summerville’s Police and Fire Departments with the life-saving tool. LifeVac is a noninvasive, nonpowered, portable ACD (Airway Clearance Device) designed to remove an object from a victim’s airway when choking.

The initiative comes as a result of Mohawk Industries’ commitment to giving back to the community and ensuring the safety of its residents. The company’s generous donation will provide public safety officials with the necessary tools to respond effectively to choking emergencies.

LifeVac is a simple, easy-to-use device that has proven to be effective in removing objects from airways, potentially saving lives in the process. The device works by creating a seal around the victim’s mouth and generating suction to dislodge the obstruction, allowing the victim to breathe again.
