Jauan Rashun Porter, 29, of Rome, Georgia, was arrested and detained this past week on federal charges of knowingly and willfully making a threat against the President of the United States. The arrest follows allegations that Porter made explicit death threats against President Donald Trump on a TikTok livestream last month.

U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg emphasized the gravity of the allegations. “The allegations against Porter are serious and required a swift, decisive, and collaborative response,” said Hertzberg. “We do not tolerate threats against public officials or law enforcement officers, and Porter will now face the consequences of his actions.”

Robert Donovan, Deputy Special Agent in Charge of the United States Secret Service, Atlanta Field Office, underscored the agency’s commitment to investigating such threats. “The United States Secret Service takes threats against a protectee very seriously,” Donovan stated. “We will investigate every threat, and if warranted, prosecute those who make threats to the fullest extent of the law.”

According to U.S. Attorney Hertzberg and information presented in court, the charges stem from an incident on July 26, 2025. Porter allegedly joined a TikTok livestream about President Trump, captioned “Alligator Alcatraz,” and commented: “So there’s only one way to make America great and that is putting a bullet in between Trump’s eyes.”

Over the next several minutes, Porter allegedly continued to make explicit threats, including:

• “I’m gonna kill Donald Trump. I’m gonna put a 7.62 bullet inside his forehead.”
• “I’m gonna watch him bleed out and and I’m gonna watch him die . . . I’m gonna do that.”

When questioned by the livestream host about the potential for federal agents to come to his door, Porter allegedly responded, “I’m gonna kill them too.”

During their subsequent investigation, Secret Service agents, assisted by Floyd County police officers and State of Georgia probation officers, conducted searches of Porter’s apartment. Authorities reportedly discovered two pipes, pistol ammunition, and Tannerite, an explosive substance.

Porter has a significant criminal history, including prior convictions for terroristic threats, influencing a witness, mutiny in a penal institution, drug possession, battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and domestic violence. He is currently on probation.

Jauan Rashun Porter was formally charged by a criminal complaint on August 7, 2025, with making threats against the President. U.S. Magistrate Judge Walter E. Johnson ordered Porter’s detention pending a detention hearing, which is scheduled for August 12, 2025, at 2:30 p.m.

The United States Secret Service is leading the investigation, with valuable assistance provided by the Floyd County Police Department, the Floyd County District Attorney’s Office, and the Georgia Department of Community Supervision. Assistant United States Attorney Brian Michael Pearce is prosecuting the case.

Members of the public are reminded that a criminal complaint contains only charges, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
