The Walker County African American Heritage Alumni Association (WCAAHAA) is set to host a landmark event this fall, combining its 25th Anniversary Dinner and the prestigious Trailblazer Awards Gala. This special evening will also serve as a poignant commemoration of 60 years since the pivotal racial integration of LaFayette High School.
The semi-formal event is scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 4:00 PM, at the Civic Center in Walker County, Georgia.
This significant celebration aims to honor enduring legacies and recognize the individuals, past and present, who paved the way for progress and equality within the community. The 60-year milestone specifically harks back to the 1968-1969 school year, marking a transformative chapter in Walker County’s educational history.
Attendees will enjoy a full evening program, including dinner, a gala reception, and dancing. The event will feature a distinguished speaker, Mr. Luther Ingram, President of Roper Corp. A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Trailblazer Awards, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of both living and posthumous individuals. Longtime educator and community activist Ms. Clemmie Black of Chattooga County will be among those honored.
