Attendees are invited to experience the future of farming firsthand, with a Junior Dairy Show this afternoon followed by a special Market Hog Preview Show.

The day’s agricultural festivities kick off at 2:00 PM with the 4-H and FFA Junior Dairy Show. Young participants from Chattooga County’s 4-H and FFA programs will demonstrate their skills in raising and presenting their dairy animals, a testament to months of diligent care and training. Later in the evening, at 6:00 PM, the highly anticipated Market Hog Preview Show will take center stage. This event is a cornerstone of the Chattooga Youth Pig Project, now in its tenth year, a collaborative effort between Chattooga County FFA and 4-H students and the Chattooga County Young Farmers Association.

Students involved in the project receive their market hogs in June and dedicate the summer months to raising them. Today’s preview show offers the public a valuable “sneak peek” at the animals that will be available for purchase at the final show and auction, which is currently scheduled for November 4th, 2025, at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center.

The Market Hog Preview aims to determine the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion of the fair, with participants competing in showmanship divisions followed by various weight classes. The Chattooga County Young Farmers Association coordinates this initiative to provide local youth with invaluable hands-on experience in livestock care, showing, and the intricacies of the agricultural business cycle.

For prospective buyers, the ultimate November auction provides a unique opportunity to support youth agriculture directly. Buyers will be able to watch students show their hogs, purchase an animal at the auction, and have it delivered directly to the processor for their convenience.
