A Calhoun woman formerly employed at the Georgia Department of Driver’s Services (DDS) office on Martha Berry Highway in Rome has been arrested and faces multiple charges related to the alleged creation and alteration of official records, resulting in the theft of state funds.

Winiferd Dijanni Palma, 35, of Calhoun, is accused of five counts of computer forgery and five counts of theft by taking.

According to arrest warrants, Palma allegedly utilized her position to manipulate the state’s DRIVES database. Between August 1 and August 22, 2023, she is accused of creating pauper’s affidavits in the names of other individuals, despite those individuals never having completed the application process for such documents.

These actions reportedly led to the creation of tangible documents for the purpose of committing forgery and unfairly depriving the state of hundreds of dollars. The warrants further state that Palma, while in a position of trust, breached her fiduciary duty and stole state funds during the specified period.

Palma was taken into custody following an investigation into the alleged fraudulent activities.
