Georgia landowners seeking to optimize their property’s natural resources will have a prime opportunity this fall at the 2025 Agroforestry and Wildlife Field Day. Set for Thursday, Sept. 18, at the University of Georgia’s Westbrook Research Farm in Griffin, the event promises the latest tips and hands-on techniques for managing forests, ponds, and wildlife.

From 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., participants can choose from a robust offering of over 30 practical sessions led by specialists from universities, government agencies, and private organizations. The comprehensive lineup includes topics critical to land stewardship, such as forest stand improvement, effective feral hog control, sustainable pond and land management, attracting backyard wildlife, exploring conservation easements, and understanding financial assistance programs available to landowners.

Unlike a traditional sit-down conference, the field day is uniquely structured for immersive, real-world learning. Attendees will travel by tram or on foot between various demonstration sites across the Westbrook Research Farm, allowing them to witness management practices in action and engage directly with experts. Each participant will also receive a detailed booklet containing information on all speakers and subjects covered.

Beyond practical knowledge, continuing education credits will be available for several professions, including forestry, arboriculture, pesticide use, and wildlife management professionals.

The event is a collaborative effort, generously sponsored by the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES), the Warnell School of Forest and Natural Resources, the Georgia Forestry Commission, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
