A Summerville man was arrested last week in Floyd County on a range of charges, including battery and two counts of cruelty to children, following an alleged altercation with a female roommate that reportedly occurred in front of young children.

Christopher Lee Wedgeworth, 31, of Summerville, was taken into custody after reports indicated he used his fist to strike a 30-year-old female roommate in the face. The incident is said to have unfolded in front of a 1-year-old and a 5-year-old child.

According to police reports, when law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, Wedgeworth allegedly attempted to mislead them by providing a fake name as his own identity.

As a result of the investigation, Wedgeworth has been charged with battery, two counts of cruelty to children (due to the presence of the minors), giving false information to police, and obstruction.
