Georgia drivers saw a slight uptick in gasoline prices over the past week, according to AAA, with the statewide average for regular unleaded climbing just one cent. Despite this marginal increase, the impact on wallets remains minimal, and prices are significantly lower than a year ago.

As of Monday, Georgians are paying an average of $2.91 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. This price is one cent higher than it was both a week ago and a month ago. However, drivers are still enjoying considerable savings compared to last year, with current prices 16 cents lower than they were at this time in the previous year.

Filling a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline now costs an average of $43.65. This means Georgians are spending almost $3.00 less to fill up their tanks compared to what they paid a year ago for the same amount.

“Overall, gas prices have been steady, with just small increases in certain regions,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “That’s in line with forecasts showing prices lower than last year, even with a few regional fluctuations.”

Nationally, pump prices also saw a minor increase, rising by one cent since last Monday to reach an average of $3.19 per gallon. Both state and national prices are subject to overnight fluctuations.

The most expensive metro markets in Georgia are Savannah ($3.01), Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($2.96), and Macon ($2.93).

The least expensive metro markets in Georgia are Dalton ($2.86), Rome ($2.83), and Catoosa-Dade-Walker ($2.82).

Area gas price averages are Chattooga ($2.81), Walker ($2.86), Floyd ($2.81), Gordon ($2.84), DeKalb, AL ($2.78), Cherokee, AL ($2.81).
