An Armuchee man is facing multiple charges, including theft of government property and reckless conduct, after allegedly stealing mail from several mailboxes and discharging a firearm in the Swan Lake Mobile Home Park.
According to Floyd County Jail records, 41-year-old Jeremy Gaskin stands accused of taking mail from four different mailboxes within the mobile home park between June and August of this year. He is also alleged to have caused more than $500 in damage to U.S. Postal Service property during that period.
In addition to the mail-related offenses, Gaskin is further accused of discharging a firearm on August 31 within the congested mobile home park, an act that led to a charge of reckless conduct.
Gaskin faces a total of 14 counts of theft by taking government property, four counts of theft by taking from a residential mailbox, and a felony count of interference with government property related to the alleged mail incidents. The firearm discharge resulted in the additional charge of reckless conduct.
He is currently being held in the Floyd County Jail awaiting further legal proceedings.
