Families and outdoor enthusiasts are invited to James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park for a day of fun, fishing, and adventure on Saturday, September 27th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The park’s Outdoor Adventure Day and Kid’s Fishing Rodeo promises a lively mix of activities designed to entertain and educate visitors of all ages while celebrating Georgia’s natural beauty.
Kid’s Fishing Rodeo: Reel in the Fun
Young anglers ages 15 and under can showcase their fishing skills at the Kid’s Fishing Rodeo, where catching specially tagged catfish could earn them exciting prizes. Participants must bring their own fishing poles and bait, but thanks to Georgia’s Free Fishing Day, residents won’t need a fishing license to cast their lines.
More Than Just Fishing
The event offers plenty of other hands-on activities, including:
Archery – Test your aim!
Birds of Prey Show – See majestic raptors up close.
Climbing Wall – Challenge your agility.
Face Painting – Add some colorful fun to the day.
Reptile Show – Learn about local wildlife from experts.
Admission & Parking
While the event itself is free, a $5 per vehicle parking fee applies. The festivities are part of National Hunting and Fishing Day, a nationwide effort to promote conservation and outdoor recreation.
