A routine response to a medical emergency call on September 9th culminated in the arrest of a Gore area man facing multiple felony drug and weapon charges, according to records released by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

Justin Todd Love, 36, was taken into custody after officers reportedly discovered suspected methamphetamine, other controlled substances, drug-related objects, and two firearms during an incident at 1531 Unity Church Road.

At approximately 8:03 a.m. on September 9th, Corporal Wilks, Deputy Claxton, and Officer Jerec Roberts responded to a possible medical emergency at the residence, which was reported by complainant Ericka Coleman. Upon arrival, officers observed a black Chevrolet Colorado parked in the driveway. Officer Roberts approached the driver, identified as Mr. Love, and noted that he appeared incoherent.

Mr. Love was asked to exit the vehicle, and Deputy Claxton conducted a pat-down search for weapons. During this search, Deputy Claxton reportedly found a small cellophane-type baggie containing a lumpy substance in Mr. Love’s left front pocket. Officer Roberts then placed Mr. Love in handcuffs. The substance was retrieved and identified as a small clear baggie with a white crystal-like substance suspected to be Methamphetamine/Fentanyl, and a small dark baggie also containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be Methamphetamine/Fentanyl. The estimated total weight of these substances was reported to be over 4 grams.

Further search of Mr. Love revealed a used needle in his left sock, which officers noted is common with methamphetamine use. Mr. Love was then read his Miranda Rights, which he affirmed understanding, but subsequently invoked his right to remain silent.

Following the initial discovery, officers conducted a search of Mr. Love’s vehicle. Inside, they reportedly found three additional needles containing suspected Methamphetamine/Fentanyl, a black tobacco box also containing suspected Methamphetamine/Fentanyl, and two firearms: a loaded Palmetto Dagger Compact 9mm handgun (Serial# CD033857) with 11 rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber, and an unloaded brown and black Remington .22 Long Rifle (Serial# EU55).

Mr. Love was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident. His vehicle was towed from the scene by Gill’s Towing.
