A Summerville woman was arrested on September 16, following a reported domestic disturbance on Church Street that allegedly involved physical aggression and the theft of a cellphone. Katelyn Martin surrendered to Summerville Police after officers were dispatched to the scene.

According to a police report, Summerville Police responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance at 27 Church Street at approximately 9:45 p.m. on September 16, 2025.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant, Ms. Brandy Highfield, who stated that Ms. Katelyn Martin had arrived at the residence with the intent to engage in a physical altercation with Ms. Highfield’s aunt, Ms. Kaileigh Painter.

Ms. Highfield further alleged that during the incident, Ms. Martin became physically aggressive and seized Ms. Highfield’s cellphone from her hand as she attempted to record the event. Ms. Martin reportedly fled the scene after she became aware that law enforcement had been notified.

Officer Sainthill reviewed video footage provided by Ms. Highfield at the scene, which reportedly depicted Ms. Martin exhibiting “violent and disorderly behavior,” consistent with Ms. Highfield’s account of the incident.

After attempting to locate Ms. Martin at her known residence without success, Ms. Martin subsequently contacted 911 herself and voluntarily surrendered to authorities. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chattooga County Jail for processing.
