Get ready to mark your calendars! Fall’s premier festival, the Coosa Valley Fair, is set to open its gates this coming Tuesday, promising a week filled with exciting midway rides, captivating exhibits, diverse attractions, and enthralling pageants. But beyond the dazzling lights and festive atmosphere, the Coosa Valley Fair is deeply rooted in community service, with a significant portion of its proceeds dedicated to vital local initiatives.

This beloved fair serves as a crucial fundraiser for organizations like the Exchange Club’s Family Resource Center and the ongoing efforts to prevent child abuse. “We put all of our money back into the community,” explained Bryan Shealy of the Coosa Valley Fair Association stated. “Either we funnel it through the Exchange Club or with things like premiums during the fair. Every time you see a picture or a painting with a ribbon, and that kind of thing, there is a check that goes with that. So, there is always money that is being put back.”

Shealy further highlighted the fair’s direct impact on local non-profits. “We’ve got six food booths that raise money. John Fortune’s group—the American Legion—they say that is their fundraiser for the year. They raise enough money during the fair to do their projects during the year. So, we are giving back to the community in order for them to do their non-profit stuff.”

The preparation for this grand event is already underway. Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m., is the designated Entry Day for submissions and setup for a wide array of displays, including Homemaking, Fine Arts, Photography, Community, Health, Educational, and Patriotic Agency exhibits, as well as the highly anticipated Fall Flower Show.

To kick off the festivities in style, Tuesday’s Grand Opening will feature a special carload admission offer from 5 to 6 p.m. For just $10, carloads (excluding vans and trucks, cash only) can enter and begin enjoying the fair. Unlimited ride armbands will also be available for purchase at $37.
