The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced the appointment of Joel Dillingham as the new District 6 Area 4 Manager. Dillingham steps into the leadership role with a wealth of experience, bringing 18 years of dedicated service to GDOT. In his new capacity, he will be responsible for overseeing all construction and maintenance projects within Area 4, a region encompassing Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, and Walker counties in northwest Georgia.

“I’m excited to lead our team as we continue to address the needs of the traveling public here in northwest Georgia,” Dillingham stated. “We have a lot of projects we are looking forward to getting underway in the near future.”

Dillingham’s extensive career at GDOT has provided him with a robust understanding of the department’s operations. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Area Construction Manager for Area 4, a position that has prepared him for the broader responsibilities of district management. His previous roles have spanned various critical areas, including construction management and inspection, engineering technician work, and project management, giving him a comprehensive perspective on infrastructure development.

As a Georgia native who grew up in Rome, Dillingham has personally witnessed and contributed to the state’s evolving infrastructure landscape. This familiarity with the region and its development is expected to be a significant asset in his new role.

“Georgia is a fast-growing state,” Dillingham remarked. “Our team in Area 4 and all of GDOT will continue to enhance the roadways to keep all of Georgia on the move.”

His appointment signifies GDOT’s commitment to experienced leadership in managing the vital transportation network across the state, particularly in the rapidly developing northwest Georgia region.
