The ongoing Toiletry Drive, spearheaded by the Chattooga County 4-H Extension office, is highlighting a critical gap in federal assistance programs, leaving many families struggling to afford basic necessities.

While programs like Food Stamps and EBT provide crucial support for food purchases, they do not extend to a wide array of items vital for health, cleanliness, and dignity. This includes everyday essentials such as soap, toothpaste, toilet paper, laundry detergent, and baby care items like diapers and wipes.

The drive is actively seeking donations of new, unopened personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine hygiene products), household cleaning supplies (dish soap, laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaners), and baby care products (diapers, wipes, baby wash).

Once collected, these vital goods will be distributed directly to students and families in need through the collaborative efforts of local schools and community organizations. This direct distribution model ensures that the donations reach those who will benefit most.
