
A traffic stop in the Armuchee area of Floyd County on Sunday led to the arrest of a Huntsville, Alabama, man who was discovered to be a felony fugitive wanted by Alabama authorities.
Dequez Daysean Henderson, 21, of Huntsville, is currently being held at the Floyd County Jail following his apprehension near the intersection of Highway 27 North and Highway 156.
According to Floyd County Jail records, Henderson was pulled over during a routine traffic stop. During the stop, officers verified his identity and discovered an active felony warrant issued for his arrest in Alabama, leading to the charge of felony fugitive from justice in Georgia.
In addition to the extradition charge, Henderson faces local drug-related offenses stemming from the traffic stop.
Floyd County authorities have charged Henderson with:
Felony Fugitive from Justice
Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
Possession of Less than an Ounce of Marijuana
Henderson is being held without bond pending an extradition hearing that will determine when he will be transferred back to Alabama to address the original felony charge.
