A preliminary report issued by the Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office indicates that a distracted driver caused a three-vehicle collision on Trion-Teloga Road in Chattooga County on Wednesday.

According to the GSP report, Vehicle #1 was traveling south on Trion-Teloga Road when its driver became distracted and looked away from the roadway. This lapse in attention caused Vehicle #1 to veer into the northbound lane.

Traveling north, Vehicle #2 was struck by the front of Vehicle #1 on its driver’s side. Following Vehicle #2 was Vehicle #3, which was subsequently hit by debris from the initial collision, impacting its front end.

The driver of Vehicle #1 was transported to a Rome hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The preliminary report did not indicate any other injuries sustained by the occupants of Vehicle #2 or Vehicle #3.

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the incident. Further details may be released as the investigation progresses.
