A Memphis, Tennessee woman has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Dalton man, whose body was discovered late Wednesday night. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been called in by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office to lead the ongoing investigation.

Requiya Kierra Reynolds, 33, of Memphis, TN, is being held without bond at the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, facing one count of murder.

The incident began on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., when the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a woman covered in blood at the Dollar General store located on Beaverdale Road. Deputies responded to the scene and identified the woman as Reynolds.

According to preliminary reports, Reynolds told first responder personnel at the Dollar General that she had stabbed a man at a home in the 2000 block of Dawnville Beaverdale Road.

Whitfield County Sheriff’s Deputies immediately proceeded to the specified residence on Dawnville Beaverdale Road. Upon entry, they discovered 59-year-old Michael Cronan, of Dalton, deceased on the living room floor with apparent stab wounds.

Following the discovery, Reynolds was taken into custody and transported to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, where she was formally charged with murder.

At the request of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are now actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Cronan’s death. This investigation is active and ongoing.

Once complete, the GBI’s case file will be turned over to the Whitfield County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
