Substitute Positions Needed: Teachers, Food Service, and Custodians
The Chattooga County School System is in immediate need of dedicated substitute staff.
- Substitute Teachers: Candidates must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Additionally, completion of the state-mandated Substitute Teacher Training through NW GA RESA is required. - Pay: Full-time roles range from $15.76 – $17.40 per hour, based on experience. Substitute drivers earn $13.50 per hour.
- Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with S & P endorsements. Paid training for the S&P endorsement is available once a valid CDL is obtained.

Cafeteria Workers (Full-Time)
Opportunities for full-time cafeteria workers are available at Summerville Middle School and Lyerly Elementary School.
- Positions: These are 156-day, benefits-eligible positions focused on preparing and serving meals.
- Qualifications: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Application Requirements: Similar to bus drivers, applicants need a completed Classified Application (resumes may be attached), High School Diploma/GED, completed Professional Reference Forms, and authorization/consent for a background check and fingerprinting.
Receptionist Positions (Full-Time)
The district has openings for full-time receptionists at Summerville Middle School and Menlo Elementary School.
- Positions: These are 166-day, benefits-eligible roles. Salary is based on the Secretary/Clerical Schedule – Level 6 and experience.
- Qualifications: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required, with clerical work experience preferred. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft programs, office professionalism, a detail-oriented and self-motivated approach, and strong communication skills to assist students, parents, and staff.
- Application Requirements: A completed Classified Application (resumes may be attached), High School Diploma/College Transcripts, and three completed Professional Reference Forms. Interviews for these positions will begin immediately and continue until filled.
