Local organizers Barbara Massey Reece and Odell Anderson are inviting all area servicemen and women and their families to the annual Veterans Day Luncheon and Honor Program scheduled for Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The event, long a staple of community support, will take place at the Memorial Home starting promptly at 12 Noon. Organizers stress that while all veterans are encouraged to attend, a significant highlight of the 2025 program will be a special recognition ceremony dedicated specifically to honoring Vietnam War veterans.

The short program preceding the meal aims to remedy the lack of appreciation many Vietnam veterans faced upon returning home decades ago.

During the ceremony, qualifying Vietnam veterans will be presented with official Honor Certificates of appreciation from the State of Georgia, alongside commemorative certificates and pins. This presentation serves as a formal token of the county’s deep respect and acknowledgment of their service and sacrifices.

Community Support Drives the Program

The Veterans Day Luncheon is made possible through the enthusiastic efforts of local volunteers and dedicated sponsors. This year’s event is being generously supported by VFW Post 6688 and Auxiliary, United Community Bank, and Tractor Supply.

These sponsors and volunteers look forward to greeting all attending veterans and their families, offering a moment of camaraderie and sincere thanks.

Following the solemn recognition ceremony, attendees will share in a communal meal. The luncheon provides a crucial opportunity for veterans to connect with one another and for community members to express their gratitude directly.
