On Sunday, November 16th, Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley will commemorate a significant milestone with the dedication of its 61st home, built in loving memory of John Hine, a devoted volunteer and donor who championed the organization’s mission since its inception in 1984.

The Freeman family, who have worked tirelessly alongside Habitat Coosa Valley, will soon rejoice in calling their new home their own, just in time for the festive season. This momentous occasion will unite community members, supporters, and partners to celebrate the transformative impact of this life-changing project.

“We are deeply grateful for the Freeman family’s dedication and perseverance,” said Betsy Allgood, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley. “Every home dedication serves as a powerful testament to the collective power of faith and service within our community. We couldn’t have done this without the kindhearted donations, sponsorship, and tireless efforts of our volunteers.”

In keeping with John Hine’s enduring legacy of support, his final donation stands as a poignant tribute to his lifelong commitment to providing decent, affordable housing for all. Hine’s unwavering belief in Habitat’s mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance resonated deeply, inspiring countless others to join the cause.

The dedication ceremony will take place at 305 Ross Street in Rome at 3:00 p.m. and is open to the public to share in this heartwarming celebration. Since its inception, Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley has collaborated with families in Floyd, Chattooga, and Polk counties to provide safe, affordable housing solutions, with the completion of the 61st home marking another crucial step forward in ensuring every community member has a decent place to live.

Habitat Coosa Valley continues to rely on the generosity of local donors, sponsors, and volunteers to sustain its mission. Applications for the organization’s homeownership program will be available in the coming year.
