The holiday season is just around the corner, and the City of Summerville is bustling with preparations for its much-anticipated Christmas celebrations. Kicking off the festivities are two beloved events: the Summerville Christmas Parade on Monday, December 1, 2025, followed by Christmas in the Park on Thursday, December 4, 2025, promising joy and cheer for all ages.
Summerville Christmas Parade to Dazzle Downtown
The Summerville Christmas Parade, a cherished family tradition, will usher in the holiday season on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 7 PM in downtown Summerville. This year’s theme, “Let It Be Christmas Everywhere,” promises a dazzling display of festive floats, amazing marching bands, and more.
The cheerful procession will begin at the junction of Hwy. 27 and Hwy 114, wind through downtown Commerce Street, and conclude at Hwy. 27 at Hurley Crossing. A magical moment awaits spectators as Santa Claus himself will light the Courthouse Christmas Tree during the parade, bringing joy to all.
Those wishing to participate in the parade can register for $25 by contacting the Summerville Recreation Department or online at www.summervillerec.org.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, a Christmas Parade Vendor Market will be held on East Washington Street from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., offering a variety of food and craft vendors. Interested vendors can register by emailing slocklear@summervillega.org.
Christmas in the Park Promises Enchantment at Dowdy Park
Just a few days later, Dowdy Park will transform into a winter wonderland for “Christmas in the Park” on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 6-8 PM. This special family holiday event promises delights “for Children of All Ages.”
Attendees can enjoy a host of free activities including popcorn and hot chocolate, cherished visits with Santa, and complimentary miniature trackless train rides. Live music will fill the air, alongside fun competitions like the Ugly Sweater Contest and the Best Dressed Elf Contest. A cozy bonfire will add warmth to the evening, and vendors will be on site.
The park’s own Christmas Tree will be lit at 7 PM, followed by exciting drawings for free boys’ and girls’ bicycles, and even a Christmas ham. Don’t miss this special family holiday must-attend event for creating lasting holiday memories and embracing the true spirit of the season.
