A routine traffic stop for a minor equipment violation and slow driving on Highway 27 led to the arrest of a 56-year-old woman on drug possession and obstruction charges.

Gina Crider Adams, 56, was arrested by local law enforcement on November 4, 2025, after she allegedly attempted to discard controlled substances while being detained during the stop. Adams faces charges of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Willful Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer (Misdemeanor).

According to a report filed by Cpl. Jared Wilks, the incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. (2050 hours) while the corporal was patrolling for speeding violations near Gore. Cpl. Wilks observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 27 near Hunter Road driving 45 mph in a posted 65 mph zone. The officer also noted that the vehicle had no working tag lights illuminating the registration.

Cpl. Wilks executed a U-turn and caught up to the vehicle, initiating a traffic stop near Gore Fire Hall Road.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Cpl. Wilks identified the driver as Ethan Crider, whom the officer knew was currently on felony probation. Cpl. Wilks stated in the report that Crider appeared extremely nervous, exhibiting rapid rise and fall of the chest and an inability to maintain eye contact.

Suspecting the presence of illegal substances, Cpl. Wilks requested assistance from Deputy Claxton. The driver, Ethan Crider, subsequently gave officers permission to search the vehicle.

Deputy Claxton asked the passenger, identified as Gina Adams, to step out of the car. As Claxton escorted Adams to the rear of the vehicle to detain her for officer safety during the search, Adams allegedly began raising her voice and resisted the officer.

Cpl. Wilks observed as Adams was being placed in handcuffs, noting that she threw a white pill into the grass near the roadway. Deputy Claxton was able to recover two white pills imprinted with “M 367,” which officers suspected to be Hydrocodone, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Following the recovery of the drugs, Adams was placed into Deputy Claxton’s vehicle.

A search of the vehicle yielded no further contraband. The driver, Ethan Crider, was released from the scene after receiving a verbal warning for the traffic violations.

Gina Adams was transported to the local jail by Deputy Claxton without further incident and booked on the aforementioned drug and obstruction charges.
