A wave of public input over the last several days has prompted the Town of Trion to halt immediate changes to its visual identity and continue using its current town logo. The decision came during the Town Council’s regular meeting Thursday night, where council members voted unanimously to retain the existing logo while exploring new design options.

The proposal for a new town logo surfaced on social media earlier in the week, quickly drawing strong reactions from residents. Many community members voiced their opinions directly to town officials through messages, calls, and public comments.

Mayor of Trion Lanny Thomas released the following statement addressing the public response:

“A proposed logo for The Town of Trion was introduced on social media this past week. I asked for the public’s opinion. I got it! The Council heard the public as well and chose to listen and act accordingly. Last night at The Town of Trion regular meeting, the Council voted unanimously to continue using the current Trion logo while a search for a new one continues. I received several texts, messages, and calls these past few days. Many of the messages were very insightful and helpful in pursuing a means at which the Town of Trion can find a new and acceptable logo that is pleasing to the public.
I appreciate all the input that was given. It is my hope that all can see that local government, like The Town of Trion, can listen and work with and for the public’s interest.”

The Mayor’s statement highlights both the intensity of public interest and the town’s commitment to transparency in local government decisions. Officials say that while the current logo will remain in place, the search for a new design will continue with heightened awareness of community preferences.

Town leaders indicated that additional opportunities for public feedback will be incorporated into the process moving forward.
