The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested Conyers Police Department Lieutenant Jesus Cadena, age 36, of Loganville, on a charge of Theft by Deception following an internal request from his own agency.
The investigation began on October 16, 2025, after the Conyers Police Department contacted the GBI’s Atlanta Regional Field Office regarding a possible theft involving one of its officers. According to investigators, Cadena used his position within the department to secure a charitable donation of property from The Home Depot in Conyers, claiming the items were intended for official police department use.
However, Conyers Police later discovered the donation and verified that the department had no knowledge of the request and never received the property. A search warrant executed at Cadena’s home in Gwinnett County led to the recovery of the donated items, which investigators say had been converted to personal use.
Cadena turned himself in to authorities just after midnight on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, and was booked into the Rockdale County Jail.
The GBI says the investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the GBI’s Atlanta office at 770-388-5019. Anonymous tips may be submitted through the GBI tip line at 1-800-597-8477, online at gbi.georgia.gov/submit-tips-online, or through the “See Something, Send Something” mobile app.
Once investigators complete the case file, it will be turned over to the Rockdale County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution
