One of the best-known names in Southern Gospel music will be appearing at the Dandee Denson Shrine Auditorium in March as part of a fundraiser for the Hope Rebirth Homeless Shelter in Summerville.
Ivan Parker, the one-time lead singer for the Gold City Quartet, will be doing a benefit concert on March 2, 2012. Parker is a native of North Carolina where his father was a Pentecostal pastor. He began singing with the Gold City Quartet – based out of Hokes Bluff, Alabama – in 1983 as the lead vocalist. Parker has since went on with a successful solo career. Parker has made many appearances on Bill Gaither’s "Homecoming" series and tours.
Parker has received many awards in his career as a Southern Gospel artist including "Favorite Lead Vocalist" and "Favorite Male Vocalist" by the industry standard – The Singing News. He is also a member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
Hope Rebirth Homeless Shelter is excited to bring this top-notch Southern Gospel artist to Chattooga County and is looking for a good turn-out in March to help benefit the shelter.
