At the request of the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Catoosa County, Georgia, involving officers from the East Ridge (Tennessee) Police Department. Authorities say no one was injured during the incident.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 5:30 p.m. on December 14, 2025, East Ridge Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen SUV crossover. Officers began following the vehicle in East Ridge, Tennessee, and activated their blue lights, but the driver crossed the state line into Georgia.

The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of the Circle K gas station on Lafayette Road in Rossville, Georgia. Officers reported seeing two or three people inside and issued commands for the occupants to exit. Investigators say the occupants refused to get out, then drove away. As the vehicle left the scene, one officer fired at the SUV.

The occupants have not been identified.

Officers later located the stolen SUV crossover at a different location in Rossville on December 16, 2025.

The GBI says it will conduct an independent investigation, and once completed, the case file will be turned over to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
